Ink cartridges are replaceable components of inkjet printers. These cartridges contain the ink used in printing. Each ink cartridge has one or more separate ink reservoirs. Some manufacturers also include electronic devices and a computer chip that communicates with the printer. All printer manufacturers produce their own ink cartridge. For this reason, ink cartridges are incompatible with different printers.
Usually, two separate cartridges are placed in a printer. One contains black ink and the other the three primary colours. Each of the primary colours is also stored in separate compartments inside the cartridge. When the ink inside the cartridge is all used up, replacements are needed. Replacement cartridges from the original manufacturers are often very expensive. This is why entrepreneurs have produced compatible cartridges that are less expensive alternatives. Although they are not produced by the major makers, compatible cartridges may have the same quality as the originals ones.
