A lot of effort and research from different printing companies developed the inkjet technology that was received and accepted by consumers with open arms. These printers are already capable of printing black and white and coloured images, graphics and even photos. The quality of these printers is quite good and it is already capable of printing different types and sizes of papers, film and even fabrics.
Different printers require different ink cartridges with most of them would need a black and a coloured ink cartridge. To identify the model and brand of printer ink cartridges to use, each printer company established their own model number system and provide information on what type of ink cartridges can be used to that specific printer model. This would help their customers to buy the correct cartridges for their printers. Usually, printer companies would like their customers to buy their own brand of ink cartridges but it is often quite costly. The alternative way was to refill the cartridge yourself, purchase a refilled cartridge or purchase compatible cartridges which cost lesser than buying a new one.

If you want to save on ink, print in “Draft” move especially if you are printing documents and images that do not need high quality printing. Usually, printing companies would set their default setting to “High Quality” without informing you or they will inform you through their manuals which they think you will not read thoroughly.
You can eke out every bit of ink in your cartridge by pulling out the cartridge and shake and rotate it to re-distribute the ink in the cartridge. This usually saves you around 10-15% of your ink.
Do not let your cartridge dry out as this is the most common refilling problems. Do not take out the cartridge from the printer if you don’t want to refill yet. If you must take out the empty cartridge from the printer, put in a sealed plastic bag together with a slightly moistened towel or paper napkin to avoid the ink from drying out.
